Frequently Asked Questions
Listed are the top five questions
we receive at Willowbrook based on actual emails.
1. "I have three small children that are below the
age of 10. What do you offer for them?"
We believe that children are the church! And
because of this, we have created some of the most dynamic programming each Sunday for our children. Church should be
fun! You shouldn't have to pull your kids to church each Sunday - so instead, we want your kids to pull YOU!
Check out our "kids konnection" link to learn more. Your kids will love it!
2. "I
do not know much about church, the Bible, or religion. What kind of stuff goes on each Sunday?"
The first thing you'll love about Willowbrook is the atmosphere. With hundreds of people attending each
Sunday you can sneak it and do some experimenting without even being seen. Willowbrook is also a casual place to
learn about Christianity. Nearly everyone is wearing blue jeans or shorts (even in the winter!). You'll never
be singled out or embarrassed. The auditorium is large and there is plenty of seating available for you.
You don't need to bring a Bible with you because we use a large screen on stage to show the verses as the Pastor
speaks. And the service is only 1 hour in length. High energy music, a message you can relate to, multi-media
presentations, along with dramas, make it a great place for anyone simply exploring Christianity!
3. "Who
is Willowbrook associated with? Are you guys Lutheran, Catholic, Protestant, or what?"
The
first thing you need to know about us is that we are open to "anyone." Each Sunday you'll find people
from all denominations worshipping with us. That's what makes us a "community" church. But
most importantly, Willowbrook has been created for those who don't "do" church. Willowbrook is associated
with Willow Creek Ministries (to learn more, click here).
4. "I have two teens who really resist going to church. What
do you offer that might attract them?"
Fortunately, Willowbrook has an exceptional teen program that
reaches Junior and Senior High Students each week. Staffed by excellent volunteers and a Student Ministries
Pastor (Katie Henslin), your teen will receive the best opportunity to meet new friends, or to bring old friends,
to Youth Group. The topics that are covered are relevenat your teen. In addition, throughout the year your son
or daughter will get to experience service projects and mission trip opportunities. We are excited about
our teens and we think you will be too!
5. "I've never been to a church in a high school.
Do you have plans someday of having your own church?"
At Willowbrook, we believe that the church
is made up of people, not buildings. However, the high school does limit our opportunities to extend our ministry 24/7.
Because of this, we are now in a building program that is extremely exciting for all of us involved. Willowbrook
has purchased 38 acres of land in Scandia and hopes to begin the building or construction process ASAP. The
Forest Lake High School has served as a great resource for us these past six years and our ministries continue to flourish.
